The Dentist YIPPEE!

Phillip has always thought it strange that over the 14 years that we have known each other I LOVE going to the dentist. I truly enjoy the whole experience of a cleaning and check-up (drilling not so much). Yesterday it was Teeth Cleaning Day for all of the Harper's. First I have to say I ABSOLUTELY love my dentist. We go to DKW Dentistry in the West Village on Atlanta Road behind 5 Guys & Starbucks (for those that are local and looking for the best dentist).

There is no need to go to a pediatric dentist for your child and than have another day for your appointment. For us it is so convenient. Phillip went 1st and headed to work when Noah and I arrived. Bare in mind as child friendly as our whole experience was, when you walk in there is a water feature, fireplace and an extremely comfortable atmosphere - very spa like, but very down to earth. Dr Kingsley White has a 4 year old and the dental hygienist has a 4 month old so they love kids and welcome them. As I got my cleaning and paraffin treatment (yes they will do your hands just for some extra pampering - does you dentist do that??) Noah sat a few feet from mom with head phones on watching PBS kids. Each room has a flat screen that the Dentist uses so you can relax and watch your favorite show and than eventually she shows you your x-rays on the screen so you can really see if you have any issues/cavities (which I am proud to say none of us did). I honestly forget Noah was in the room. I was completely relaxed and he loved having the head phones on and didn't say a word.

Than it was Noah's turn. Dr White showed him all of the tools "mr thirsty", the "tooth tickler" the "chair ride", to giving him a choice or grape or strawberry flavored toothpaste and she used grape flavored gloves (I am asking for those gloves next time) Noah did not hesitate - he hopped right in the chair, opened wide and let her check his teeth, count them and clean them with the tooth tickler he even got to hold "mr thirsty". She even commented how he had almost no plaque. He loves to brush sometimes 4x a day - I am sure it has something to do with the flavor of his toothpaste.
He never whined, complained, or looked afraid! I think he will join the short ranks of people like me that love going to the dentist and who LOVE THEIR dentist.
Noah left happy as if we had gone to Kangazoom or a Birthday party - with a goody bag with the Firefly toothbrush - that flashes for the length of time he is supposed to brush, he got some other special prizes, alligator floss, yummy flavored toothpaste and lots of hugs and praise.
Thank you Dr White and your staff!

Roller Derby

Our family had a great time this weekend at Logan's Roller Skating Birthday Party. All the Harper's skated. Of course there were several wipe-outs, near splits, but not one tear just tons of laughter! Noah had a blast with all his buddies skating, playing on the awesome indoor playground and of course eating 2 of his favorites Pizza & Cake! Stay tuned for Noah's 1st visit to the Dentist! Ask your self do you love your Dentist because if you don't you have to hear how amazing all 3 of our appointments were this morning. With pictures to prove it!
Happy Birthday Logan! Thanks for including us we had a blast!!!

Noon Year's Eve

Noah and I went to a very crowded but fun event in Smyrna on New Year with our great friends Mrs Harkins, Ryan and Grace (no longer baby Grace that's for sure)
As much as was not a fan of the crowded gymnasium, the boys loved the music, noise makers and the balloon drop and of course the apple cider toast!

I know it looks small...

"But it is still my BIG BOY BED!!!
Almost a month and I haven't tried to escape, stand-up or even get out of my bed without Mommy or Daddy coming into my room" Noah Brett Jan 09

Noahism's

Do you think your child says and does the cutest most orginal things. Here are some of Noah's that simply bring laughter into our home daily.

Singing Jingle Bells "Jingle Bell Jingle Bells Jingle all theole Mcdon" and than it starts over. I think he is combining Jingle Bells and Old McDonald had Farm

"I have to squeeze it out" - I think you can figure that one out without too much explanation

"eveything ending in ies. Sockies, shoesies, etc etc.

Repeating "I am faster than fast" a line for "CARS"

He refused to near Santa this year unless in handed him a treat. Noah said "put it there" pointing to a space between him and Santa "and I'll come get it"
He also wanted to be sure the Santa would not come into his room Christmas eve but only go downstairs by the big tree

"Turn up the music" He loves listening to our churches worship CD and it must be at a respectable volumn

Some plan odd things:
Don't break his banana or string cheese into pieces
And for some reason he rather lose at Shutes and Ladders than win.

Some precious things:
He still loves to dance and sing and praise God
Every night we pray for the 5 babies soon to be syblings to his buddies 2 sets of twin and 1 single. And of course for his babies to soon be in Mommy's tummy.

Some amazing things.
We almost two months potty trained NO accidents and 1 month sleeping in big boy bed!
Noah doesn't even dare stand up in his bed let alone get out. Both of these milestones I worried about but them seemed fairly easily once we did it...
He spells his name, know his phone #, all his letters, letter sounds and numbers, he is a fabulous sharer and also says, please, thank-you and excuse me. No he is not perfect, but a mom has to brag occasionally.

I am sure I will add to "Noahisms" as I remember them!
